Monday Mailing 21

August 11, 2020

Welcome to the Monday Mailing #21  –  Numbers Count

If 2020 were a math problem:

Can I get an “amen?”

I was never an expert at these sort of narrative number problems, but it is not difficult to see that this one is not like all the others!

Our “Year of Perfect Vision” (2020) is so far short of perfect, all that most of us can do is laugh.

And laugh we do.

Laughter is very good medicine. Laughter releases endorphins – those “feel good” chemicals we all naturally possess. How many times have you heard someone say about it, “it is better than crying.” And indeed it is. But there is something about a good cry that cleanses the spirit, as well. These actions of our emotions – laughter and tears – are a necessary part of who we are. They can help us regulate the rest of our being! And that’s not nothing!

So, laugh a bit every day, dear friends. Shed a tear when you need to. Do both without care for who sees or hears you. . .because it is necessary for you and your health.

The PSA for today is this. . .what we are living through is beyond belief. This Pandemic is challenging us in ways we never imagined. The mental health issues related to our lockdown and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Health has a 24 hour helpline: 800-950-6264. Never be afraid to reach out if you feel like you are at the end of a rope and it is getting harder to hang on. Help is out there.

Peace – and much laughter to you all!
