Mission Study Meeting #3: Leadership, Stewardship/Fundraisers and Communications
Tuesday, October 20, 2020
The last of three Zoom meetings to discuss goals identified in our Mission Study is coming up this Tuesday, October 20 at 7:15 PM. Pastor Janice will “open the doors” for the meeting at 7 pm. This meeting will focus on Leadership, Stewardship/Fundraisers and Communications. As promised, here are some discussion questions for you to think about to inform our discussion. There is no right or wrong answer to these; they are strictly to get the discussion started.
Leadership:
As our membership has gotten smaller and older, it is difficult to find people willing and/or able to accept Committee assignments or leadership roles in the Church. How can we address this?
How can we make leadership or church involvement beyond Sunday Worship a spiritually rewarding experience?
Stewardship/Fundraisers:
Stewardship is a big question. It can be considered to be our bodies, the environment, our time, and/or our money. Jesus spoke a lot about stewardship. In what areas are we good stewards at HUPC? In what areas could we do better?
Do we believe everything is a gift from God? How do we use wisely what God has given us?
Do we want to continue to do fund raisers? If so, what type of fund raisers should we do? If we were able to fully support our budget, should we continue to do fund raisers, considering there is a community involvement and service component to some?
Communications:
What are we communicating? The Gospel message, information about our Church and its ministry, our programs and events, our people, our hope for justice, etc.?
How should we be communicating? What is the role of social media, signage, our website, newsletters, person-to-person interactions, newspaper articles, advertising, community events and fundraisers, etc. in communications? How does the Church embrace technology in communication?
How does Evangelism fit in with communications? How does communications relate to Christian fellowship and community?
We hope you will be able to join us this Tuesday, but if you cannot, you may send written comments to any Session member via email or mail. Please keep your response to one page or less, and all letters must be signed.
