COVID-19 Vaccine Information

January 13, 2021

From the Communications Ministry Team:

We’ve heard that many of you have questions about the Covid-19 Vaccine rollout. Here are some resources we have put together that may be helpful:

  • Vaccine eligibility, where to get it, and appointments: NYS Department of Health Am I Eligible online tool  or call 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829) from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m daily. Note: We have heard it can be difficult to get through on the phone, but at least two members had no trouble using the website this morning.
  • Questions related to vaccine eligibility and vaccine distribution site locations: Dial 211 to reach the United Way of the Greater Capital Region’s 2 -1-1 hotline.
  • Email updates provided by your medical practice and/or health insurer can also be good sources of vaccine information. If your doctor provides these, you may wish to sign up to receive them if you don’t already.

We are hearing that you need to be patient and alert for new information as you navigate this process. At this writing, there are more people eligible to receive the vaccine than vaccine doses available in NYS. However, things can change quickly, especially as more vaccine doses become available and more vaccine locations come online. Important: Be sure you are looking at known and reputable sources of information, such as the sources listed above. What people in your Facebook news feed say may not be fact-checked. Also, scammers are already at work selling and calling with vaccine disinformation. Hang up on them; do not give them any information.

While we all wait for our vaccines, please remember to stay safe — wear a mask, social distance and keep washing your hands. We look forward to seeing you in person and once again gathering as a church!
