At Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church we believe that giving of time, talent, and financial resources is an act of worship and spiritual practice.

There are many opportunities to apply one’s gifts of time and talent, including service on one of our Ministry Teams, or work on any one of our sponsored missions such as City Mission of Schenectady, the Protestant Campus Ministry at the University of Albany, Presbyterian Women, the Board of Deacons, or the Guilderland Food Pantry. There is also an opportunity to serve in leadership on the Church Session (Board) or the broader Church community through the Presbytery of Albany.

Hamilton Union encourages our members and friends to be faithful stewards of their God-given gifts by returning a portion to His Church. One of the expectations of being a part of a Church community is to participate in the annual stewardship campaign and other ministries of the Church where you have an interest and/or ability. Your particular gift is a private matter between you and God. We encourage your prayerful consideration in making this important decision.

Over 80% of our annual revenue comes from members and friends pledging their financial support to the work and ministry of the Church. These gifts support the local mission and ministry of the Church as well as outside sponsored mission. The Church, through pledges, also supports the Church denomination through payment to the Presbytery of Albany, and through them, the Presbyterian Church USA.

The most important way to give to Hamilton Union is to pledge, that is, a commitment of a certain amount for the year. This is done annually in the Fall for the upcoming year, but can be done anytime based on individual circumstances, such as for new members. Pledges are consecrated and dedicated to the work of the Lord on a selected Sunday in November.

Another option for giving is a direct donation, either one-time or ongoing. Gifts can be made at any time in the form of Cash, Check, Credit Card, or Transfer of Securities (Stocks, Bonds, etc). If you have any questions, please contact Elder William Hasselbarth, Chair if the Church’s Administration and Finance Committee.

Special Giving

There are other opportunities for giving that might fit better with individual circumstances or wishes. These include special purpose giving such as Memorial Fund, Capital Fund, Mission Fund, or Endowment Fund. In making such a gift please indicate your direction for the gift so we apply it correctly. Also to be considered is a legacy gift such as a bequest in your will that remembers Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church. Your gift could be either restricted to a special purpose or unrestricted. We encourage unrestricted bequests to give the Session latitude on use of the funds to support the Church’s ministry. Please contact Elder William Hasselbarth if you have any questions regarding Special Giving opportunities.

Click the "Donate" button on this page. This will send you to PayPal, where may set up an automatic or a recurring payment, or make a one-time payment from your bank account or credit card. Please note there is a modest service fee charged to the Church associated with Online Giving.

You can mail a check to Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church or place your check payment in the collection basket on Sunday. We encourage the use of pre-numbered offering envelopes that the Church provides, so you are credited with your donation. We send out giving statements quarterly. You may also use your own bank’s electronic banking service where payments can be sent directly to the Church from your bank either as a one-time or recurring payment. There is typically no bank fee for this service.

If you wish to be credited for your Cash donation, please use an offering envelope provided or use one located in the Church. Please write your name on the envelope, and place in the offering basket or mail to the Church office.

Transfer of Securities

You can donate by a transfer of securities, stocks or bonds to Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church. You will be credited for the security market value as of the date of transfer. Please contact Elder William Hasselbarth to make arrangements for the transfer.
