Early Worship at Hamilton Union
“Behold I am doing a new thing.! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” -- Isaiah 43:19
“I’d like to get to church but practice starts at 12:30 and there isn’t time for church, lunch and to go home and change.”
“We’d like to worship as a family but the traditional service is too long for the children.”
“It is refreshing for me to hike or run or go on a picnic on Sunday. I can relax and feel close to God in nature. I wish I didn’t always have to choose between church and getting out of doors.”
In the 21st Century there are many more demands on our lives, and our time and many more choices to make not only for ourselves but for our children. Young Adults and young families in particular sometimes find it difficult to meet their spiritual needs in the midst of all of these demands, expectations and choices. These are not easy choices and there is not one right choice for any family or individual. But we believe that it is deeply enriching to begin one’s week in God’s company.
Reaching out to busy families and young adults and those with demanding jobs and little free time, emerged as a central interest from the discernment process that representatives of our congregation participated in spring and fall of 2009. As result of these discussions, in 2010 we began to an early, informal time of morning prayer, praise and intergenerational worship.
If you would like to worship together with your children of any age; if you have work or school or sports commitments that begin late on Sunday morning making it difficult to attend the 10 a.m. service or if you have other Sunday morning activities but still would like the opportunity to begin your week in thanksgiving and prayer please drop in to early worship any Sunday.
A Hymn sing begins at 8:20, with worship from 8:30-9:00 a.m.
On First Sundays, when communion is celebrated at the 10 a.m. worship service, Stewart Pattison will lead a short communion service in the Church lounge.
You (and your travel mug of coffee) are welcome !
